A warm welcome to all you fellow Finns & friends of Finland around the world! I hope you find this forum a comfortable place to meet and chat. Who knows? Perhaps real friendship will be forged across continents and over seas! Stranger things have happened!

I was born in Turku, Finland...currently living in south-western USA. My immediate family - parents, self, two brothers - emigrated to Canada when I was four years old. All my cousins, aunts, uncles - whole clan - still live in Finland. I have been back to Finland a number of times since my childhood. I'll never forget what a joy it was for me to discover that I had so many cousins around my own age - instant connections! Instant friendship! It was magical! So were the summers at the lake. Only one of the 1st generation progeny of our 'suku' in Canada (and USA) speaks Finnish. How sad. I hope my website - Finn2FinnFun.blogspot.com and its various pages - will connect Finns and Friends of Finland around the world, and that they will migrate to Finn2Finnforum to get to share experiences and - if they so choose - get know one another across the miles.

Says Who?

Actually, remarks such as this were made in many different ways onseveral forums that I visited while doing research for my F2FF blogs.Quite frankly, the comments shocked me. I was last in Finland in 1994and I do not recall seeing Finns acting or talking like racists. Sowhat has happened since 1994? If you check out F2FF Journeys you'll seean article on Muslims in Finland. Seems they are very much a part ofthe community and have been for some time. Other news reports on theweb suggest that Finland has been welcoming Chinese workers since 2002in large numbers. So what's the truth? Anybody out there have anopinion?
